I have devoted a considerable
portion of my life appreciating and protecting the natural
world. I have found that a close connection to the natural
world, and an appreciation of its wonders has been an
excellent antidote to the sometimes too self-centered
civilized world where I am engulfed much of the
One experience in during my high school years helped make me much more concencious of the world around me. I had the good fortune to take a summer astronomy class at the Newark Museum in Newark, New Jersey. That experience helped me understand the motion of our planet, the solar system we are bound to and the galaxy we are a small part of. Just walking out the back door on a clear night, transforms my day.
