Graduation at Ole Miss
In May of 2008, Rose and I
traveled to Oxford, Mississippi for the graduation of her
nephew Ryan Johnson from the University of Mississippi,
"Ole Miss". Old Miss was big news 46 years ago when James
Meredith was admitted as the first African American student
in its history. Now that event is commemorated by a bronze
statute of Meredith entering a doorway marked opportunity.

Ryan was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science
and Sociology. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and as a member
of Phi Beta Kappa.
The afternoon before, a
traditional South Mississippi Crawfish Boil was held for
family and friends.
